About Empoli

Empoli Football Club was founded in 1920 by a group of students and until the 1980s were an average team from a small town of just 50,000. Since then they have enjoyed seven seasons in Serie A and even qualified for the UEFA Cup in 2006 and in 2007. This was a high point though and they were relegated to Serie B the following season.

Empoli Travel and Tourism

Empoli is located in the popular tourist region of Tuscany, and could be combined with trips to more famous neighbours such as Florence, Pisa and Siena. It may be tempting to stay in one of the more significant tourist destinations, and make a journey to Empoli for the match. Pisa and Florence both have airports served by budget airlines and Empoli is on the train line between the two cities so is easily accessible.

Along with the well known neighbouring towns, you could take a bus 11km out of Empoli to a village with an extremely famous son: Vinci. You'll find a museum dedicated to Leonardo, and some attractive country walks.
