Stadio Castellani Empooli travel and tourismEmpoli is located in the popular tourist region of Tuscany, and could be combined with trips to more famous neighbours such as Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Siena. It may be tempting to stay in one of the more significant tourist destinations, and make a journey to Empoli for the match. The Rough Guide describes Empoli as a 'modern and heavily industrial town', but like all Italian towns the small city on the Arno has its share of historic appeal. There is a recommended museum of Renaissance art, and the official Comune website (a few 'tourism' pages in English) promises the chance to watch glassworkers in action and a 'swaps' fair for collectors of 'small items' such as stamps and shells. If the excitement gets too much, you could take a bus 11km out of Empoli to a village with an extremely famous son: Vinci. You'll find a museum dedicated to Leonardo, and some attractive country walks. Get to Empoli
The town lies between Pisa and Florence. The cheapest option from the UK would probably be to find a bargain flight to Pisa and then take the
train (frequent departures, journey time approximately half an hour) or bus to Empoli. The town is on the main Florence - Pisa railway line, and is also connected by rail to Siena.
Pisa airport (47km from Empoli) is a short journey by train or bus from the main railway station in Pisa. Ryanair offer cheap flights from the UK. Firenze (Florence) Airport is rather nearer.
